De hoogste nieuwe
binnenkomer deze week is The Old Fashioned Way van Charles Aznavour op nummer
28. Op nummer 48 komt Annemieke van Roek Williams binnen, een plaatje dat ik
na veel moeite heb weten te bemachtigen. Het
is een Top 50 met wederom
en aantal mooie nummers zoals La Malaguena, Summer (the first time), The morning after,
Born to be with you en China Grove.

The RNI memories
of Michael Downing for this period My day by day RNI
diary, which I had stopped on 31 December 1972 and picked up for a only few
days late in May 1973, started again on 8 October 1973 and went through to
the beginning of March 1974. This is the first five days in October 1973: Monday 8 October 1973 On board the Mebo 2 this week are Mike Ross, Rob Eden, Robin Banks,
Dick de Graaf and Hans Molenaar.
Hans Molenaar is presenting the live breakfast
show, now called Buitengaats, and Ted Bouwens is on Doorsnee Noordzee from 10.00 to 12.00, followed by Tony Berk from 12.00 to 14.00. Ferry Maat
is on holiday at present, so his 14.00 to 16.00 programme
is hosted by Hans ten Hooge. Dick de Graaf is on Driemaster from
16.00 to 18.00, followed by Nico Steenbergen. On
Monday evenings at 19.00, Hans Molenaar plays an hour
of oldies from 1965 or before in the programme 65
Min. News on the Dutch service is read today by Dick de Graaf
and Hans Molenaar. International service programmes are: 20.00 Mike Ross 22.00 Robin
Banks 24.00 – 3.00 Rob
Eden Today is Arnold
Layne’s birthday – a year ago he said that there was a good chance that he
wouldn’t be on the station in a year’s time. Indeed he isn’t. Tuesday 9 October 1973 Dick de Graaf leaves on the tender and Leo van der Goot returns. Leo takes
over for his week of Driemaster. It is reported in
this month’s Deejay and Radio Monthly that John de Mol has demoted Gerard Smit and Peter Holland, because they dared to contact
their union. Also Ferry de Groot is no longer chief
technician. This seems extraordinary – with the station fighting for its life
in the face of the Dutch government’s bill, you would think that de Mol would
want to use its most popular DJs, such as Peter Holland, to maximum
advantage. Dutch newsreaders
are Dick de Graaf, Hans Molenaar and Leo van der Goot. After
several calm days on the North Sea, there is a Force 7 storm this evening. Wednesday 10 October 1973 Marc van Amstel returns to the Mebo 2
after only 5 days off. Dutch service newsreaders today are Hans Molenaar (who, unusually for the Dutch service, reads
some of the news in his own breakfast programme),
Leo van der Goot and Marc
van Amstel. Hans Molenaar
leaves on the tender. Maybe there is now a shortage of Dutch newsreaders – Jos Kuyer has not been on board
now for several weeks and Gerard Smit should have
returned yesterday. Thursday 11 October 1973 Marc van Amstel takes over on Buitengaats
this morning. A new craze that started on the Mebo
2 two days ago, darts, has taken hold of the Dutch service staff. Leo van der Goot tells us about it in Driemaster. Friday 12 October 1973 Ferry Maat returns from holiday and to his 14.00 to 16.00 show
today. On Fridays, the hour from 15.00 to 16.00 is now a soul hour. Mike
Ross, Rob Eden and Marc van Amstel leave on the tender
today and Graham Gill, Brian McKenzie, Gerard Smit
and Hans Molenaar return to the Mebo
2. Both Gerard and Hans read news this afternoon. International service programmes tonight are: 20.00 Graham
Gill (Top 30) 22.00 Brian
McKenzie (Rock’n’Roll Special) 24.00 Graham
Gill 3.00 – 6.00
Robin Banks The No. 28
record was not played on the Top 30 show – presumably because “Deck of cards”
by Max Bygraves is not on board. |
