die plaat me altijd bijgebleven. Een echte goeie plaat komt binnen op nummer
38, Storm and Thunder van Earth & Fire.

The RNI memories
of Michael Downing for this period Thursday 2 September 1971 Mark Stuart goes
off on shore leave and Mike Ross returns. No change in the Dutch newsreaders
on board, so Nico Steenbergen
continues to present Driemaster. Tonight’s
International programmes: 18.00 Paul May 20.00 Mike Ross 22.00 Rob Eden 24.00 – 3.00
Dave Rogers Dave Rogers and
Paul May read the news. Friday 3 September 1971 Programmes
are the same as last night. Paul May does not play Mark Stuart’s hitpick at its regular time of 19.00 this evening and
instead plays Joost de Draaier’s
hitpick, “Let your yeah be yeah” by the Pioneers at
that time. Mark Stuart and Peter Holland feature in a mobile discotheque
today. Saturday 4 September 1971 There is a new
advertisement for Ideaal Wonen
introduced today, which uses Herb Alpert’s “Jerusalem” as its backing. Joost de Draaier presents the
Super Top 50 show. Paul May introduces a new spot on the Mark Stuart show –
“Dating times”. The idea is that you have to pick your girlfriend up at set
times – either 18.45 or 19.30 – very strange. Mark Stuart and Peter Holland
appear in another mobile discotheque today. Sunday 5 September 1971 Kop Op this
morning is hosted by Nico Steenbergen.
This evening’s International Service programmes
are: 18.00 Rob Eden
(In Concert) 19.00 Paul May
(British Top 20) 21.00 Mike Ross
(Hitback Show) 22.00 Rob Eden 24.00 – 3.00
Dave Rogers Paul May times
the Top 20 show wrongly, so there is not time to play all of the new DJ
hitpicks. There are two mobile discotheque shows today and both feature Mark
Stuart and Peter Holland. Monday 6 September 1971 Tonight's programmes are: 18.00 Paul May 20.00 Mike Ross 22.00 Rob Eden 24.00 - 3.00 Dave Rogers The Crispian St
John show is now to be called the Cris St John show and Rob Eden has made a
special jingle for when he sits in on it. Paul May and Dave Rogers read
today's news. Tuesday 7 September 1971 Dave Rogers
reads the news. Rob Eden has an interview with Copperfield recorded by Mike
Ross in his programme today. As Mike isn't feeling very well today, he goes
back to bed after his programme finishes at 22.00. It is reported
today that a new 20KW transmitter is about to be brought on board the Mebo 2
to broadcast the Dutch service on 190 or 217 metres, so that 220 metres can
be used for transmissions in English. Also the shortwave transmitters may be
used for multi-lingual broadcasts. Wednesday 8 September 1971 For some reason
Paul May is no longer giving timechecks in his programme at the top of the
hour. Dave Rogers reads the news. Thursday 9 September 1971 Dave Rogers,
Paul May and Nico Steenbergen all go off on shore leave, whilst Hans ten
Hooge, Crispian St John and Mark Stuart return to the Mebo 2. Leo van der Goot, who took over on
Driemaster on Sunday, continues to present the programme and International
service programmes are: 18.00 Mark Stuart 20.00 Mike Ross 22.00 Crispian St John 24.00 - 3.00 Rob Eden Crispian
St John is starting up a "Bedclothes Club", for which he invites
anyone who is listening that shouldn't be to write in and tell him, giving a
nickname that he can call them. Also Crispian has made jingles for the
nightly programmes and for this coming Sunday's programmes. Crispian St John
and Rob Eden read the news. Friday 10 September 1971 A mobile
discotheque today features Joost de Draaier and Dave Rogers. The programme schedule is the same as yesterday and Crispian
St John and Rob Eden read the news. New records
played for the first time on RNI this week included:
