shortwave transmitter goes off the air at 20.00 with the comment “Hopefully
it will be back tomorrow”. Mike Ross presents the Skyline programme
from 3.00 to 6.00 on Saturday morning and news is read by Crispian
St John and Paul May. Saturday
2 October 1971 This afternoon’s LP show is presented by
Tony Berk as Peter Holland is on holiday. The 31 metre shortwave transmitter stays off the air all day. Crispian St John has made a new promo for the Dutch
service Sunday programmes. The Sunday morning
Skyline programmes are 3.00 to 5.00 Rob Eden and
5.00 to 7.00 Crispian St John. Crispian
St John and Rob Eden are today’s newsreaders. A mobile discotheque in Belgium
today features Ferry Maat and Dave Rogers. Sunday

4 October 1971 Leo van der Goot
takes over presentation of Driemaster from Hans ten Hooge. The
Dutch news has reports of espionage connected with RNI, although these are
not repeated in the English news in the evening. RNI is off the air for part
of the Mike Ross show, but returns at 21.45. Paul May has made a promo for
the mobile discotheque in English. Tonight’s newsreaders are Crispian St John and Paul May. Tuesday 5 October 1971 Again today there are references to the
espionage story in De Telegraaf in the Dutch news,
but it was not mentioned in the International service. Crispian
St John and Rob Eden appeal to David Hughes of Disc magazine to send them
copies of the magazine. They say they already get Record Mirror. News today is read by Paul May and Crispian St John. Wednesday 6 October 1971 Hans ten Hooge
goes off on shore leave and Nico Steenbergen returns to the Mebo

Verhoeven and Dave Rogers. Thursday 7 October 1971 Paul May and Mike Ross go off on shore
leave and Mark Stuart and Dave Rogers return. This alters the programme schedule to: 18.00 Mark Stuart 20.00 Rob Eden 22.00 Crispian St
John 24.00 - 3.00 Dave Rogers Crispian
St John, Dave Rogers and Mark Stuart read the news. During the station ID at 22.30, Crispian St John said "Broadcasting from the radioship Mebo 2, anchored off Frinton, Essex - oops, I'm giving away all the secrets
this evening". Also there was a reference to the 49 metre
band transmitter "going places", which was followed by a request
for reception reports from people listening on that shortwave band between
6.00 and 9.00 in the morning. Friday 8 October 1971 The Skyline show from 3.00 to 6.00 on
Saturday morning is presented by Crispian St John,
who also reads news, as does Dave Rogers and Mark Stuart. Tonight's mobile discotheque features
