De treiterschijf van vorige week komt
deze week binnen op nummer 14 : The Free electric band van Albert Hammond.
Ook Late Again van Stealers Wheel komt relatief hoog binnen op 16. Long Tall

The RNI memories of Michael Downing for this week in June 1973 The week
commencing 23 June 1973 was one of the most significant in RNI's life, but,
whilst it was the beginning of the end with the passing by De Tweede Kamer of the Anti-Zeezender Wet on Thursday 28 June 1973, it resulted in an
interesting week's radio, particularly on the Dutch service. The action
"Radio Noordzee hou'm
in de lucht" had started on Friday 22 June
1973 in Buitengaats, presented by Gerard Smit, and continued throughout the week, with all of the
DJs on board the Mebo 2 presenting their programmes live. At the start of the week Gerard Smit was presenting Buitengaats
and Leo van der Goot was
presenting Driemaster, but this changed in the
usual way during the week and Marc van Amstel and
Dick de Graaf returned to the Mebo
2 and took over Buitengaats and Driemaster
respectively. With all the
Dutch Djs that normally recorded their programmes on land being on board, there were a few
unique programmes, such as a four hour special on
Sunday afternoon presented jointly by Peter Holland, Nico
Steenbergen and Leo van der
Goot. The Super Top 50 show was broadcast as usual
on Saturday 23 June 1973, presented by Ferry Maat,
but, due to the "Hou'm in de lucht" campaign, it was not complete by 15.00, so
was finished after 15.00 by Tony Berk. Leo van der Goot presented the Troef 20 as usual during Driemaster
later on Saturday afternoon. The International
service broadly ignored the passing of the Anti-Zeezender
Wet and continued as if nothing was happening. There was one significant
change from Friday 22 June, which was the reintroduction of the Smash Play -
the first one this week was "Judy in disguise" by John Fred and His
Playboy Band - although there were no longer any DJ hitpicks. The International
Top 30 show, presented by Graham Gill on Friday 22 June from 20.00 to 22.00,
included a few records that never became UK hits, such as "Red light
song" by Blue at no. 4 and "Randolph's Tango" by Thin Lizzy at no. 16. 10CC were at no. 1 with "Rubber
Bullets". There was only
ever going to be one record that was played more than any other during the
week, however, and that was "Geef ons een kans"
by Het Noordzee Koor, the
song of the "Hou'm in de lucht"
campaign. It would make no. 18 in the Super Top 50 a couple of weeks later. |
