gekozen deze week : Melancholy Man.

The RNI memories
of Michael Downing for this period Saturday 3 April 1971 There is a tender this afternoon, which
brings out new records by Audience, Georgie Fame
and Alan Price, Poppy Family, Gloomys, Alice
Cooper, Brimstone, BZN, Amsterdam and September amongst others. Today's programme schedule is: 6.00 Tony Allan 9.00 Jan Van Veen 12.00 Joost de Draaier (Super Top 50) 16.00 Crispian St
John 18.00 Tony Allan 21.00 Dave Rogers 24.00- 2.00 Martin Kayne Tony Allan said on the breakfast show
that "Love is all around" by the Troggs
was not on the ship, but then Crispian St John
played it on his afternoon show as a hitback.
Talking of hitbacks, all of the hitbacks
on Dave Rogers' show are by Elvis Presley. RNI broadcasts the latest
developments in tonight's Eurovision Song Contest as a result of watching it
in their television room. Sunday 4 April 1971 Joost
de Draaier played a lot of Bee Gees tracks on his programme this morning, including "World",
"Massachusetts" and "I've gotta get
a message to you". This afternoon's Super Hit 50 show is presented by Crispian St John, thereby not altering the programme schedule for the rest of the evening.
"Something old something new" by the Fantastics
has arrived on the ship. Dave Rogers is referred to as "The Farmer"
by Tony Allan, as Dave comes from Devon. Monday 5 April 1971 The tender comes out and brings with it Stevi Merike, but he does not
stay on board and he and Alan West are not expected to return until Thursday.
Joost de Draaier's hitpick is the new single by the Tee Set and not "To
love somebody" by the Bee Gees, as the jingle in his show yesterday
implied. Tuesday 6 April 1971 Every other record on this morning's Jan
Van Veen show is a hitback
by Cliff Richard, including "Bachelor Boy", "Dancing
shoes" and "On the beach". Crispian
St John plays a lot of jingles promoting car safety on his programme, including advising you to call your local
motoring organisation before going out this Easter.
Tony Allan features tracks from the American, English, French and German
versions of "Hair" during his evening programme
and refers to Monopoly as follows - "If the answer to that question was
yes, return to Bond Street", if it was no, go to jail, do not pass go,
do not collect 200 pounds". Wednesday 7 April 1971 "Love to love you" by Caravan
now being played as a new record. Crispian St John
has a new promo for his show, which was played on the Tony Allan breakfast
show. Thursday 8 April 1971 Tender comes out twice today - the first
time it brings back Alan West and Stevi Merike, then it goes back to Scheveningen
but returns a quarter of the way through the Crispian
St John show to take off Crispian and Dave Rogers.
Hence today's programmes are: 6.00 Tony Allan 9.00 Jan Van Veen 12.00 Joost de Draaier 14.00 Ferry Maat 16.00 Crispian St
John 16.36 Tony Allan 18.00 Alan West 21.00 Stevi Merike 24.00 - 2.00 Martin Kayne Jan Van Veen
gave out a lot of addresses for fan clubs of artists such as Cobra and Bojoura in his programme. All
six English DJs appeared in the 36 minutes presented by Crispian
St John. Alan West has an exclusive on the new Crosby Stills Nash and Young
live LP on his show, as well as a number of interviews that he recorded
whilst in Holland. Stevi Merike
came on at the start of the Alan West show doing an impersonation of an
American, claiming that Stevi had been squashed
between the tender and the radio ship - very strange. Ex-RNI news - it is rumoured
that Andy Archer is to join BBC Radio Medway soon. Friday 9 April 1971 Good Friday on RNI. New records received
this week include those by Christie, Supremes and Four Tops, Stevie Wonder,
Argent, Don Fardon, Tony Joe White, Brewer and
Shipley, Curtis Mayfield, Anne Murray, Freda Payne, Brotherhood of Man, White
Plains, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, the Musicians Union Band and Van
Morrison. Tony Allan presents the whole of the
16.00 to 18.00 show today. |
