Such a funny night
van Aphrodites Child is deze week de hoogste nieuwe op nummer 27. Reggae

The RNI memories
of Michael Downing for this week in August 1971 Saturday 18 September 1971 Today's mobile discotheque features Mike
Ross and Ferry Maat. Peter Holland played Mike
Ross's hitpick in his programme
- the first time that I have heard a Dutch DJ play an English DJ's hitpick and announce it as such. International service programmes
are: 18.00 Mark Stuart 20.00 Paul May 22.00 Crispian St
John 24.00 - 3.00 Dave Rogers Crispian
St John appears on the telephone, apparently from Frinton
Beach, which is obviously not for real as he is on board the Mebo 2. Paul May wants a record by Nazz
to be reissued - he has been playing it on his programme
a lot over the past few days. Because of heavy mist there is no light
flashing tonight. Medium wave and short wave transmissions cease at midnight
for "vital antenna adjustments and aerial maintenance". News is
read by Crispian St John, Dave Rogers and Mark
Stuart. Sunday 19 September 1971 Karel
Prior is back this morning after his holiday. Again Mark Stuart is not
featured in the Sunday schedule, although he is still on board. RNI closes at
midnight on all frequencies, but it is promised that this will be the last
day that such maintenance will be required. Tonight's programmes
are: 18.00 Paul May (In Concert) 19.00 Dave Rogers (British Top 20) 21.00 Paul May (Hitback
Show) 22.00 - 24.00 Crispian
St John Newsreaders are Crispian
St John and Dave Rogers. The "In Concert" programme
features Deep Purple and the Moody Blues. Dave Rogers gives a namecheck to Jan Van Veen after
playing the advert for Muziek Parade that features
him. Two mobile discotheques today - one with
Peter Holland and Rob Eden and the other with Ferry Maat
and Mike Ross. Monday 20 September 1971 Mark Stuart is back on his usual 18.00 to
20.00 programme today. Nico
Steenbergen takes over on Driemaster
from Hans ten Hooge. RNI closes for maintenance on
all transmitters again at midnight and news is read this evening by Crispian St John, Dave Rogers and Mark Stuart. Tuesday 21 September 1971 RNI back to its full 21 hours of programmes today. Some strange remarks from Crispian St John this evening - first he says that the Mebo 1 has been painted like the Mebo
2 "and you can guess what the Mebo 1 is going
to be used for" and then he says "Don't forget it happens in 16
days from now". Kurt Baer goes off on shore leave and news is read by Crispian St John, Dave Rogers and Mark Stuart. Wednesday 22 September 1971 Plans are revealed for RNI to broadcast
for 24 hours a day over the weekend. There are to be extra International
Service programmes from 3.00 to 6.00 on Saturday
morning and from 3.00 to 7.00 on Sunday morning. Programmes
and newsreaders today are the same as yesterday. Thursday 23 September 1971 Crispian
St John and Mark Stuart go off on shore leave and Rob Eden and Mike Ross
return. This alters the programme schedule to: 18.00 Rob Eden 20.00 Mike Ross 22.00 Paul May 24.00 - 3.00 Dave Rogers Dave Rogers and Paul May read news. Friday 24 September 1971 The first Skyline programme
from 3.00 to 6.00 on Saturday morning is hosted by Rob Eden. Today's mobile
discotheque features Joost de Draaier
and Mark Stuart and news this evening is read by Dave Rogers and Paul May. The new records that I heard played on
RNI during the week commencing 18 September 1971 were:
