The RNI memories

hour a day broadcasting until Tuesday morning. Hence

Jan Van Veen (Super Top 50 and Toekomstmuziek) 16.00 Tony Allan 18.00 Alan West 21.00 Stevi Merike 24.00 Martin Kayne 3.00 - 6.00 Stevi Merike Today marks the start of RNI's news and
weather service, with news in Dutch at the top of each hour from 7.00 to
16.00, then a news round up at 18.00. The Dutch newsreader is Hans ten Hooge.
News in English starts at 17.00 with Stevi Merike reading (also at 18.00), Tony Allan at 19.00, when
Hans ten Hooge also did sports news in Dutch, and
Tony again at 20.00, 21.00 and 22.30 and there are news round ups in both
Dutch and English at 24.00 and 2.00. Alan West announces that there will be programme changes from 1 May 1971. Because of the
introduction of the news service, the "Man of Action" theme was
played on the half hour from 16.30 to 21.30 and from 23.30 onwards. Sunday 11 April 1971 Programmes
today are: 6.00 Tony Allan 9.00 Joost de Draaier 12.00 Ferry Maat 15.00 Tony Allan

with Hans ten Hooge, whilst Tony Allan does an
English news bulletin at 8.30. News from 16.00 to 19.00 read by Stevi Merike and from 20.00
onwards by Tony Allan. The new LP by Shocking Blue is featured
heavily in the Dutch service. New records on board this week by Aretha
Franklin, Severine, James Brown, Big Mouth, Redbone
and Dion. Monday 12 April 1971 There is a promo today for an RNI mobile
discotheque, which is to operate in Holland. Appearing this Saturday will be
Tony Allan and Jan Van Veen. More interviews in the
Alan West show and all of the English DJs keep referring to a new Dj called Timothy Greasefinger.
Lots of mentions too for Mark Wesley when the Djs
play his "Music....RNI" production to take them up to the news. More new records featured today from
Johnny Cash, Fleetwood Mac and Marvin Welch and Farrar. Tuesday 13 April 1971 News in English today read by Stevi Merike from 17.00 to
20.00 and thereafter by Martin Kayne. "Man of
action" is now played in the Dutch service after the news at the start
of each programme, whilst in the English programmes it is now played more regularly on the half
hour. More new records featured today - Glass
House, Lynn Anderson, Flaming Ember and Mama Cass Elliot. Wednesday 14 April 1971 No longer do the DJs say "Thank you
to X for the news". Now it's just "Thank you to our news
department" or "Thank you to announcer one". Tony Allan and Stevi Merike have been helping
the Dutch crew paint the side of the Mebo 2 today
and Stevi reads news from 17.00 to 19.00 and Tony
from 20.00 onwards. Slightly less news at 18.00 after the ten minute long
bulletin yesterday. Not all of RNI's music is on record -
some music, for example "Let my life be your love song" by Arrival,
is on cassette. A mystery record was played on the Alan
West show and Alan asks listeners to write in if they can identify it. Alan
also continues to talk about forthcoming programme
changes due to start from 1 May. Alan uses Isaac Hayes' "You've lost
that lovin' feeling" as his backing music
today. Thursday 15 April 1971 Today's tender takes off Tony Allan and
Martin Kayne and brings back Crispian
St John and Dave Rogers. Today's programmes are: 6.00 Tony Allan 9.00 Jan Van Veen 12.00 Joost de Draaier 14.00 Ferry Maat 16.00 Crispian St

played by Alan West and "Man of action" is now played on most half
hours in the English programmes. Friday 16 April 1971 Alan West takes over on the 6.00 to 9.00
show now that Tony Allan is on shore leave. Ferry Maat
interviews Dave Rogers on his programme and Dave
describes himself as a "floating disc jockey". News is read today
by Dave Rogers at 17.00 and 18.00 and thereafter by Crispian
St John. Medium wave transmitter goes off the air
for a short period at 19.10, but returns quickly. "Man of action"
now played at the start of each programme in the
Dutch service. |
