How do you do van

Peter Holland, prima keuze! Deze Top 50 kun je hier beluisteren: Als toegift deze week platen uit de RNI playlist, de

The RNI memories
of Michael Downing for this week in November 1971 Saturday 20 November 1971 RNI is now publishing a monthly
newsletter centred around
its Nordsee goes DX programme
and editions from May 1971 onwards are available by sending an international
reply coupon to the usual address. Tonight's programmes
are: 18.00 Terry Davis 20.00 Mike Ross 22.00 Paul May 24.00 Brian McKenzie 3.00 Paul May 5.00 - 7.00 Mike Ross Paul May, Brian McKenzie and Terry Davis
read the news. Ex-RNI news....Urs
Emmenegger, managing director of RNI in 1970, has
set up an "Asylum for Timothy Leary" committee in Switzerland. Also
charges against Ronan O'Rahilly have been dropped
for his part in the 1970 election campaign, when he distributed
"Chairman Harold" posters. Sunday 21 November 1971 Nico
Steenbergen hosts Kop Op this morning. A mobile
discotheque today features Ferry Maat and Dave
Rogers. World and International service programmes today are: 7.00 Rob Eden 9.00 Dave Rogers 11.00 Jane Valentine 13.00 Brian McKenzie 15.00
Terry Davis 18.00 Brian McKenzie (In Concert) 19.00 Paul May (British Top 20) 21.00 Mike Ross (Hitback
Show) 23.00 Terry Davis (LP show) 24.00 - 3.00 Brian McKenzie The World service programmes
by Rob Eden, Dave Rogers and Jane Valentine were all recorded last Wednesday
(17th). Dave Rogers said "What's he doing
sounding so bright for a Sunday morning, you're all saying. Well, it's not -
it's a Wednesday afternoon. It's all done by mirrors, you know". The 31 metre band transmitter, which has been off the air for a
week, returns for the World service, but leaves the air at 18.00. In Concert today features the Tremeloes. The British Top 20 show is again presented
with the hitpicks played between the records in the
Top 20, but those of Joost Verhoeven,
Joost de Draaier, Ferry Maat and Tony Berk are not
played. There is also a new spot - number 1 five years ago, which this week
is "Reach out I'll be there" by the Four Tops. Paul May, Mike Ross
and Terry Davis read the news. The proposed Radio Sovereign with ex-RNi DJs has not started. Monday 22 November 1971 At about 8.50 Leo van der
Goot interrupted the Peter Holland show to tell
listeners that the Mebo 2's anchor chain had broken
and that the ship was drifting towards land. At 9.20 the station went off the
air. A reserve anchor proved to be of no use. The lifeboat Bernhard van Leer
was put on standby and, at about 15.00, the tug Smitbank
managed to get a line across to the Mebo 2 and
started to tow the ship. Apparently the Mebo 2 had
been only five minutes away from going onto the rocks. Programmes
restarted shortly after 16.00 with Nico Steenbergen on Driemaster. By
23.00 the Mebo 2 is about 60 miles from land. Programmes
this evening follow the same schedule as Saturday up to close down at 3.00
and newsreaders are Paul May, Brian McKenzie and Terry Davis. Tuesday 23 November 1971 The Mebo 2 is
still on tow, but a tender does manage to reach it to take off Leo van der Goot and bring back Hans
ten Hooge. There is a Skyline special after normal programmes finish at 3.00, presented by Joost Verhoeven. News is read
by Paul May, Brian McKenzie and Terry Davis. Wednesday 24 November 1971 The ship returns to its position 4 miles
off Scheveningen, but will remain on tow until a
new anchor is fitted (at a cost of 8,000 pounds). The programme
schedule and newsreaders are the same as last night, including a Skyline
Special. Thursday 25 November 1971 Mike Ross and Paul May go on shore leave
and Dave Rogers and Rob Eden return to the Mebo 2. Programmes become: 18.00 Rob Eden 20.00 Terry Davis 22.00 Brian McKenzie 24.00 - 3.00 Dave Rogers No Skyline Special tonight. News is read
by Brian McKenzie, Dave Rogers and Rob Eden. Published today is Record Mirror's DJ poll
and the following current and ex-RNI DJs appear in the Top 40:
Carl Mitchell is in the "Bubbling
under" section. Friday 26 November 1971 Rob Eden hosts the Skyline show from 3.00
to 6.00 on Saturday morning and Rob, Brian McKenzie and Dave Rogers read the
news. A few new records that I heard on RNI for
the first time during the week commencing 20 November 1971:
