Radio van
Supersister is deze week de hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer op nummer 26. Alle
nieuwe binnenkomers deze week zijn stuk voor stuk leuke plaatjes. Earth and
Fire staat onveranderd op nummer 1 met Memories. Op 45 staat Judee Sill met
Jesus was a crossmaker.
I need you van America. Deze Top 50 kun je hier beluisteren: Onder de TOP 50 kun je de herinneringen van Michael
Downing lezen uit de tijd dat deze Top 50 werd uitgezonden en daaronder een
paar scans uit de MP van Mei 1972. |

The RNI memories
of Michael Downing for this period After the changes in the DJ line up of
the Dutch service at the beginning of May 1972, the rest of May and June saw
no more changes to the DJ team. Arguably the summer of 1972 was RNI’s most
successful period – the Dutch service was by now well established and the
decision by the Dutch government to close down the offshore stations was
still a year away. Saturday
27 May 1972 There was a heavy storm last night, so,
despite promos announcing that RNI was to go 24 hours a day over the bank
holiday weekend, there is no early morning programme
this morning. The medium wave and FM transmitters return to the air at 6.00,
but the 49 metre shortwave band transmitter remains
off the air all day. International service programmes
are: 19.00 Paul May (International Prediction
Hit 40) 22.00 Brian McKenzie (Reviews) 23.00 Brian McKenzie (Kent Request Hour) 24.00 Tony Allan 3.00 – 7.00 Rob Eden Two mobile discotheques today – one with
Alfred Lagarde and Ferry Maat
and the other with Tony Berk and somebody in place
of the advertised Brian McKenzie, who is still on board the Mebo 2 today. Sunday
28 May 1972 The shortwave transmitter remains off the
air today and medium wave transmissions are very weak. Tony Berk has an interview with Anita Kerr on his programme. Tonight’s programmes
are: 19.00 Brian McKenzie (Hitback
Show) 21.00 Tony Allan 23.00 Tony Allan (Kent Request Hour) 24.00 Paul May 3.00 – 6.00 Rob Eden Most of the hitbacks
in tonight’s hitback show come from 1967. No Cloud
Nine programme between 21.00 and 23.00 tonight.
Instead Tony Allan features David Cassidy’s LP “Cherish”. Monday 29 May 1972 Nico
Steenbergen leaves on the tender and Leo van der Goot returns, meaning that
Leo takes over on Driemaster from 17.00 to 19.00.
Shortwave transmissions return during the day. Tonight’s programmes: 19.00 Paul May 21.00 Brian McKenzie 23.00 Rob Eden (Kent Request Hour) 24.00 – 3.00 Tony Allan Newsreaders are Tony Allan and Paul May. Tuesday 30 May 1972 No tender today, so programmes
tonight are: 19.00 Paul May 21.00 Rob Eden 23.00 Tony Allan (Kent Request Hour) 24.00 – 3.00 Brian McKenzie Wednesday 31 May 1972 RNI closes at midnight tonight, so the
International service is curtailed, as follows: 19.00 Rob Eden 21.00 Brian McKenzie 23.00 Tony Allan (Kent Request Hour) Paul May and Tony Allan are tonight’s
newsreaders. Thursday 1 June 1972 There is at last a tender today. Paul May,
Brian McKenzie and Gerard Smit go off, as do Peter
Chicago and Bruno. Terry Davis and Hans ten Hooge
return. Programmes tonight are: 19.00 Terry Davis 21.00 Rob Eden 23.00 Rob Eden (Kent Request Hour) 24.00 – 3.00 Tony Allan The new Rolling Stones LP, “Exile on Main
Street” comes out onto the ship today and is featured in the Rob Eden show
from 21.00 to 23.00. Newsreaders are Tony Allan and Terry Davis. Friday 2 June 1972 Hans ten Hooge
takes over Ochtendeditie this morning.
International service programmes are the same as
last night, although the station goes off the air for 30 minutes at 20.00 in
the Terry Davis show for maintenance. Rob Eden hosts the early morning show
from 3.00 to 6.00 on Saturday morning and features the Beatles’ “Sgt Pepper’s
Lonely Hearts Club Band”, which is now five years old. A mobile discotheque
today features Tony Berk and Ferry Maat, with a live appearance by Oscar Harris and the
Twinkle Stars. |
