The RNI memories
of Michael Downing for this week in August 1972 Saturday 5 August 1972 Apart from the Treiterschijf,
the records that I have heard played most on RNI over the past week have
been:
Strangely, "Tango Johnny" by Nico Haak en de Paniekzaaiers, which was one of the most played records
in the previous week, has been almost ignored this week. Dutch service news today is read by Leo
van der Goot and Gerard Smit. Marc van Amstel must have
gone on shore leave. On the International service, news is read by Arnold
Layne, Brian McKenzie and Tony Allan and programmes
are: 19.00 Tony Allan (International Prediction
Hit 40) 22.00 Arnold Layne (Reviews) 23.00 Arnold Layne (Kent Request Hour) 24.00 Brian McKenzie 3.00 - 7.00 Mike Ross Tony Allan said "Mike Ross is
furthering his education. He's just come in and said 'Hey Tony, where have
you put your Superman magazines'". Focus are
featured on Driemaster talking about their new LP. A mobile discotheque is advertised for
today featuring Tony Berk and Mike Ross, but,
obviously, Mike Ross will not be appearing as he is on board the Mebo 2. Sunday 6 August 1972 The final Karel
Prior programme is broadcast this morning. Hans ten
Hooge presents a programme
after this from 11.00 to 13.00 and Leo van der Goot presents Driemaster. Dutch
news is read by Leo van der Goot
and Gerard Smit. International service programmes
are: 19.00 Brian McKenzie (Hitback
Show) 21.00 Tony Allan (Cloud Nine) 23.00
Mike Ross (Kent Request Hour) 24.00 - 3.00 Arnold Layne Arnold Layne, Brian McKenzie and Tony
Allan read the news. Ferry Maat and
Tony Berk appear in a mobile discotheque today. Monday 7 August 1972 Hans ten Hooge
returns to Driemaster today and Leo van der Goot and Gerard Smit read the Dutch service news. The medium wave
transmitter goes off the air a couple of times between 14.30 and 15.05 for a
few moments. International service programmes
are: 19.00 Tony Allan 21.00 Arnold Layne 23.00 Mike Ross (Kent Request Hour) 24.00 - 3.00 Brian McKenzie News is read by Arnold Layne, Brian
McKenzie and Tony Allan. Tuesday 8 August 1972 Tony Berk
interviews Trapeze on his programme. Arnold Layne
goes off on shore leave, which changes the programme
schedule this evening to: 19.00 Tony Allan 21.00 Mike Ross 23.00 Mike Ross (Kent Request Hour) 24.00 - 3.00 Brian McKenzie News is read by Mike Ross, Brian McKenzie
and Tony Allan. Wednesday 9 August 1972 Leo van der Goot presents Ochtendeditie and
all 14 news bulletins on the Dutch service are read today by Gerard Smit. Two interviews on the Ferry Maat
show today - one with Zoo and the other with Axis. On the International
service, the programme schedule and newsreaders are
the same as yesterday. Thursday 10 August 1972 Jos
Kuyer and Marc van Amstel
return on the tender and Gerard Smit goes off on
shore leave. All three are featured reading news today. Also Rob Eden returns
to the Mebo 2 and Mike Ross goes off. Leo van der Goot continues on Ochtendeditie and Hans ten Hooge
on Driemaster. International service programmes are: 19.00 Tony Allan 21.00 Rob Eden 23.00 Rob Eden (Kent Request Hour) 24.00 - 3.00 Brian McKenzie Strangest thing today is that, after
playing Paul May's hitpick, Tony Allan said
"That's hitbound on RNI this week", so
maybe Paul has now left. News is read by Rob Eden, Brian McKenzie and Tony
Allan. Friday 11 August 1972 Mike Ross returns after only one day off
and Tony Allan goes off on shore leave. Programmes
