De hoogste nieuwe
binnenkomer is Who was it van Hurricane Smith op nummer 25. Cornelis

The RNI memories
of Michael Downing for this week in September 1972 Saturday 30 September 1972 The records that I have heard most on RNI
during the past week have been:
Astounding developments at 12.30. Radio
Veronica moves, as expected, from 192m to 538m, but, on 192m there is test
transmission from RNI. Programmes for this test
are: 12.30 Tony Allan 14.00 Brian McKenzie 16.00 Arnold Layne 18.00 - 19.00 Terry Davis These tests are referred to as being from
Radio Northsea International 2 and there are
regular mentions for Veronica's new wavelength. The reason why the tests cease
at 19.00 is given as "RNI does not wish to cause any interference to any
other station". However, during the Arnold Layne show, the transmissions
from the Dutch service on 220m took over on 192m for short periods between
16.00 and 17.00 and also from the start of Driemaster
at 17.02 until around 17.45. This was obviously not intentional. There is a Dutch news broadcast at 13.57 and all through these test
transmissions RNI asks listeners to send reception reports to the PO Box 113,
Zurich address. At the end of the Arnold Layne show, he doesn't sound very
confident about the future of RNI 2, saying "Eventually we might get
some programmes out for you". The "Man of
action" theme is played at the top of each hour, when the wavelength is
announced, as well as Veronica's new one. On the Dutch service, Alfred Lagarde hosts Toekomstmuziek
and the Muziek Parade show. International service programmes
this evening are: 19.00 Arnold Layne (International Prediction
Hit 40) 22,00 Tony Allan (Reviews) 23.00 Tony Allan (Kent Request Hour) 24.00 - 2.00 Brian McKenzie In the news bulletin at 20.00, Tony Allan
said that Radio Veronica had changed to 538m to avoid interference with other
stations and that the management of RNI have stated that they intend to
maintain the high technical standards of Veronica, which is why the
transmissions closed at 19.00. It is also announced that it is intended to
broadcast the International service of RNI on 192m. Also reading news this
evening are Terry Davis and Arnold Layne. A mobile discotheque today
allegedly features Tony Berk and Peter Holland,
although Tony is on holiday. RNI closes at 2.00 on Sunday morning for aerial
adjustments. Sunday 1 October 1972 RNI returns on 220m, 49m and FM at 5.20,
along with test transmissions on 192m. All wavelengths feature a programme presented by Tony Allan. The programmes divide at 7.00, with the Dutch service on 220m
and FM (Peter Holland) and Tony Allan continuing on 192m. However, at 7.10
RNI develops some problems and the RNI 2 tests have to close and are replaced
by the Dutch service on 192m. Tony Allan says that the RNI 2 tests will
return, but he doesn't know when. This means that today's edition of Nordsee goes DX is broadcast only on 6205KHz (at 10.00).
There is a break in transmissions on 192m from 9.30 to about 10.00 and then,
at 11.05, the station disappears from 192m and does not return before the
scheduled 19.00 closure. No reason is given for this, only "We went off
the air". On the Dutch service, Leo van der Goot presents Tony Berk's programme. There is a
mobile discotheque today featuring Leo van der Goot and Alfred Lagarde and a
second one is advertised with Peter Holland and Tony Berk,
although Tony is on holiday. International service programmes
are: 19.00 Brian McKenzie (Hitback
Show) 21.00 Terry Davis (Cloud Nine) 23.00 Arnold Layne (Kent Request Hour) 24.00 - 3.00 Tony Allan Arnold Layne, Brian McKenzie and Terry
Davis read the news. Although Terry Davis refers to the RNI 2 transmissions
many times during Cloud Nine, he does not say when the broadcasts are likely
to resume. He does however comment that it was not their fault that
transmissions had to go off the air at 11.05. Mike Ross picks the competition
winner in the Hitback Show. Monday 2 October 1972 There are more tests on 192m this
afternoon, but only until 18.00, and the Dutch service is relayed throughout
this time. Tonight's programme schedule is: 19.00 Tony Allan 21.00 Terry Davis 23.00 Arnold Layne (Kent Request Hour) 24.00 - 3.00 Brian McKenzie News is read by Arnold Layne, Tony Allan and
Terry Davis. Tuesday 3 October 1972 The Dutch service is again relayed on
192m, but only during the morning. Tony Allan says this evening that the
tests will restart, but it's up to the management
and engineers as to when this happens. He also says that the Tony Allan
breakfast show will be returning. Brian McKenzie goes off on shore leave,
so programmes become: 19.00 Tony Allan 21.00 Terry Davis 23.00 Arnold Layne (Kent Request Hour) 24.00 - 3.00 Mike Ross Also on the Mebo
2 today is a new Dutch newsreader, Dick de Graaf.
Arnold Layne, Tony Allan and Terry Davis read the International service news. Wednesday 4 October 1972 Again there is a change in the programme schedule, which is: 19.00 Tony Allan 21.00 Terry Davis 23.00 Mike Ross (Kent Request Hour) 24.00 - 3.00 Arnold Layne Terry Davis describes the Mebo 2 as "The biggest broadcasting boat in the
North Sea" and says that he is saying this "because I have a
feeling that the medium wave is about to be thrown into chaos again".
Arnold Layne, Tony Allan and Terry Davis read tonight's news. Thursday 5 October 1972 Marc van Amstel,
Terry Davis and Mike Ross go off on shore leave and Dave Rogers and Gerard Smit return to the Mebo 2.
Gerard Smit reads the afternoon Dutch news
bulletins and this evening's programmes are: 19.00 Tony Allan 21.00 Dave Rogers 23.00 Dave Rogers (Kent Request Hour) 24.00 - 3.00 Arnold Layne Arnold Layne, Tony Allan and Dave Rogers
read the news. Friday 6 October 1972 Gerard Smit
reads morning news and Hans Molenaar reads
afternoon news. After only one day Terry Davis returns from shore leave and programmes are: 19.00 Tony Allan 21.00 Terry Davis 23.00 Dave Rogers (Kent Request Hour) 24.00 Arnold Layne 3.00 - 6.00 Dave Rogers Arnold Layne, Tony Allan and Terry Davis
read news. The new records that I heard on RNI for
the first time during the week commencing 30 September 1972 were:
