De hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer is Veronica 538 van Jacques Herb en de Makkers. Op 36 zien we Donna Hightower met This world today is a mess.

Marc van Amstel hosts the Ochtendeditie programme this morning and Nico Steenbergen presents the programme from 10.00 to 12.00. Alfred Lagarde has an interview with the Stampeders at 18.45 this evening in Driemaster. Tony Berk and Peter Holland are the DJs appearing in a mobile discotheque show today.

Tonight's International service is only one hour, as RNI leaves the air at 20.00 for vital aerial maintenance. Dave Rogers, who introduces the International Prediction Hit 40 show at 19.00, therefore only plays the new entries and big climbers. No DJ hitpicks are played. Brian McKenzie reads the news at 20.00 and closes down the station for the evening.

Sunday 22 October 1972

RNi returns to the air at 7.00 with some new programmes - Peter Holland from 7.00 to 9.00, then a new DJ, Henny Spijkers, from 9.00 to 11.00, followed by a non-stop music programme from 11.00 to 13.00. Normal Sunday programmes follow from 13.00.

International service programmes this evening are:

19.00 Brian McKenzie (Hitback Show)

21.00 Dave Rogers (Cloud Nine)

23.00 Dave Rogers (RNI Request Hour)

24.00 - 3.00 Mike Ross

Newsreaders are Dave Rogers and Brian McKenzie. Marc van Amstel assists in picking the winner of the hitback competition. Dave Rogers features a new double album by Otis Redding in Cloud Nine. Brian McKenzie plays a record for "the double A" - can this be Andy Archer?

Tony Berk appears at a mobile discotheque today.

Monday 23 October 1972

Tony Berk has two interviews today - one is with Anneke Konings and the other with Greenfield and Cook. Tonight's programmes are:

19.00 Mike Ross

21.00 Dave Rogers

23.00 Dave Rogers (RNI Request Hour)

24.00 - 3.00 Brian McKenzie

Dave Rogers and Mike Ross read the news. Today Brian McKenzie becomes the first International service DJ to complete a full year as a full DJ with RNI.

Tuesday 24 October 1972

This morning Peter Holland has an interview with Anneke Konings and Alfred Lagarde interviews Sammy Day in Driemaster.

Developments this evening are, to say the least, exceptionally odd. Instead of the International service at 19.00, there is a taped programme hosted by Nico Steenbergen until 21.00 (with an interview with Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys and members of American Spring). Nico is to be on RNI at this time regularly from now on. There is Dutch news at 20.00 and Hans Molenaar, who reads this, gives the time of the next news broadcast as being at 7.00 tomorrow morning. When Nico's show finishes at 21.00, the "Rock'n'roll" theme tune is played and this is followed by continuous music (not all rock'n'roll) with jingles. Most of the music played from 21.00 to 23.00 is rock, such as "Free ride" by the Edgar Winter Group and "Back home" by Golden Earring, and there is a lot of rock'n'roll. At approximately 23.00 the rock music finishes and is replaced with middle of the road music, featuring, among others, Herman Van Veen, Barbra Streisand and the Fifth Dimension, which lasts until closedown at 3.00. There are no adverts after 21.00.

It is astonishing that no explanation is given for this change in programming and very strange, as a tender came out yesterday with a lot of mail for the International service DJs, so clearly the decision to stop the service has been notified to them since 3.00 this morning. A tender must have come out today with the Nico Steenbergen programme and presumably took off Mike Ross, Dave Rogers and Brian McKenzie.

Wednesday 25 October 1972

Still no International service programmes nor explanation as to what has happened to them. Nico Steenbergen is on again from 19.00 to 21.00, with news at 20.00 and then Marc van Amstel makes an announcement at 21.00, following which there is continuous music of a sort played on the International service over the past few months until 24.00. At 24.00 there is a two hour programme presented by Hans ten Hooge, who hasn't been heard on RNI since early September and who I presumed had left.

Thursday 26 October 1972

Marc van Amstel and Hans Molenaar go off on the tender and Gerard Smit and Dick de Graaf return to the Mebo 2. Programmes after an announcement by Dick de Graaf at 21.00 are:

21.00 Non-stop

22.00 Dick de Graaf

23.00 Tony Berk

24.00 - 2.00 Gerard Smit

RNI closes for the day at 2.00.

Friday 27 October 1972

This evening's programmes are Dick de Graaf at 21.00 and Gerard Smit at 24.00, with closedown at 3.00. Tony Berk and Alfred Lagarde feature in a mobile discotheque today.
