Demis Roussos met My
Friend the wind is de hoogste nieuwe op nummer 17. Twee plaatsen lager zien
nummer 50 binnenkomen : People need love.
verschillende artiestennamen.

The RNI memories
of Michael Downing for this week in September 1973 The International Service of RNI had
entered into its most stable period in early September 1973, with no changes
to the DJ line up until February 1974. Mike Ross, Don Allen, Brian McKenzie,
Graham Gill and Robin Banks were the main team, with Rob Eden helping out
from time to time. The International Top 30 had been very
slow moving during August 1973, with only 12 new entries during the 4 weeks
to 31 August 1973. The chart on Friday 7 September 1973 saw a complete shake
up, however, with 12 new entries, including "Angel Fingers" by Wizzard at number 1 and "Angie" by the Rolling
Stones at number 4. The biggest casualty from the previous week's chart was
"Alll right now" by Free, reissued in the
UK in the summer of 1973, which had been at number 5 on 31 August 1973, but
was not in the Top 30 at all on 7 September 1973. The Top 30 programme was presented by Mike Ross on 7 September 1973. The Smash Play on the International
Service was "She" by John Baldry and Liza
Strike, a record played a lot by RNI at the time. The five station hitpicks for the week were:
LP of the week was "Atlantis" by
Earth and Fire, who were a favourite group of the
International Service in 1973. On the Dutch Service, it was also business as usual. Ferry Maat
presented the Super Top 50 from 12.00 to 15.00 on Saturday 8 September 1973
and the Troef 20, broadcast during Driemaster on Saturday, was hosted by Dick de Graaf, who was on his week of Driemaster
at the time. The breakfast programme, called "Buitengaats" at the time, was also broadcast live
from the Mebo 2 and had been presented on alternate
weeks by Marc van Amstel and Gerard Smit, but Gerard had fallen out of favour
with John de Mol and, although he stayed with RNI, he was mainly only heard
reading news during the autumn of 1973. Hans Molenaar
took over as co-presenter of Buitengaats, |
